Types of Classes

We offer a range of class styles throughout the week. From Vinyasa to Restorative. Learn more about your favourite styles of Yoga Class below.

Hatha

Two people practicing yoga in a room with large windows, blue wall, and indoor plants. They are stretching on yoga mats.

Hatha Yoga is the foundation for all modern yoga classes. A typical Hatha class follows a given structure of postures and breathwork. The postures and techniques can be swapped in and out which gives variety.

In this type of class, you will stay in each posture for an extended period of time. This allows you to gain awareness of the body and mind and starts the process of meditation.

Meditative

Meditative Hatha goes deeper into the meditative aspects of Yoga. Longer rest between postures, generally a slower paced class. However, if you are someone with a racing mind, this class can seem more difficult.

Dynamic

Intensive Hatha explores extended holds, requiring more physical capacity. Working with advanced variations, poses such as arm balance, headstand and advanced backbends.

Yin

This is the cross over between Traditional Chinese Medicine and Yoga. Created by Paulie Zink but later developed and popularised by Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers.

Yin Yoga explores extended passive holds. Each posture you enter is typically held for 5-7 minutes. However, it can be adjusted and tailored to your needs in that very moment.

Yin Yoga is known for its calming and releasing benefits on the mind and fascia system.

Restorative

A person with short hair and wearing casual clothes is doing a yoga pose on a blue mat indoors. They are kneeling and leaning forward with their head resting on a pillow. There is a blue wall with greenery at the top, a tall white lamp, and a carpeted floor.

Restorative Yoga will calm down and regulate your nervous system.

In a typical 1hr Restorative Yoga class you will only practice 4 to 5 postures and each posture is held for over 10 to 15 minutes.

Using cushions and blankets, let yourself completely relax in this truly magical yoga style.

Please bring towels to cover your props and any more blankets and favourite cushions from home.
